Syracuse vs. Boston University
NCAA Tournament First Round
May 10, 2009
Carrier Dome/Syracuse, NY
Senior Katie Rowan
On next week’s match-up with Maryland:
“I know they’re undefeated. I know they start a lot of young players. I don’t even know if they start any seniors. But they’re a young team. They’re talented, obviously – undefeated. They play in a tough conference so they’re obviously a great team. I’m sure our coaches know a lot more about them than we do. But we’ll do our work this week and go prepared down to College Park.”
Senior Bridget Looney
On the first half:
“This was the first time all season that we put together a full 60 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the last game, especially, we struggled and I think we came out strong today and continued that through the whole game. So it’s really nice going into the locker room with a good lead at half.”
On her last game in the Carrier Dome:
“It’s great –it’s been five years. It’s nice to go out with a bang. It’s very exciting.”
On preparing for the NCAA tournament:
“It starts in practice. We challenged each other every day for the past 12 days. We were excited to be around each other and this was our last game (in the Carrier Dome) so, ‘Why not?’ The hard work started in practice and we’re just excited to be here.”
Junior Christine Dove
On the SU winning the draws to start of the game:
“I think we just got into a rhythm there and our team was able to predict where the ball was going and we moved to space very well.”
On what this win means to the team:
“It’s huge to have such a great win today going into Maryland next weekend. I think it creates a lot of momentum and we’re all going to be positive coming into this game knowing we can play a full 60 minutes. We are capable of it and, hopefully, we can carry that over into our game versus Maryland.”
