Mr. Bruce R. Ross (Golf)
Bruce Ross was a member of SU's golf team for three seasons and graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology in 1962. Ross, who minored in chemistry, was a member of Phi Delta Theta for his four years at SU.
Ross' professional career includes a 28-year association with Bristol-Meyers Squibb, where he served as president of its U.S. Pharmaceutical Group. During this period, Ross initiated the Bristol-Meyers Summer Fellowship Program for graduate students in the SU biology department. In 1995 he was selected to lead the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a new alliance of 13 of our nation's leading cancer treatment centers. The NCCN was formed to create cancer management strategies and ensure delivery of services to cancer patients across the U.S. He currently serves as director of IDEC Pharmaceuticals and Cell Pathways, Inc.
Ross is actively involved as an alumnus of Syracuse. He has been a member of the Varsity Club, the College of Arts and Sciences Board of Visitors and the Chancellor's Council. In 1996, he received the College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumnus Award. Ross is also active within his community. His volunteer activities include the United Way, American Cancer Society, Fox Chase Cancer Center Board of Directors (Philadelphia) and the Institute of Medicine Roundtable for the Development of Drugs and Vaccines Against AIDS.
