Syracuse vs. Georgetown Player Quotes
Syracuse vs. Georgetown

Carrier Dome – Syracuse, N.Y.
SU Student-Athlete Quotes
Scoop Jardine, Senior Guard
How can you improve upon your rebounding performance?
“When you have a team coming in like Connecticut which feeds off of rebounds, we must do better. We have a lot of athletic guys who can be better on the boards. So I know tomorrow in practice and from here on out, we are going to try to be better with our rebounding.”
What happened on the final sequence when you passed to Kris Joseph?
“When I got it back, there were 29 seconds left on the clock. I wanted to try to get something, at least something at the rim. So I came off of the pick and roll, and Fab (Melo) rolled really hard, and made the defense collapse. I looked at Kris (Joseph) and he was wide open by himself. He made a big shot.”
How did you change your play in the second half?
“I was really trying to get in a rhythm of the game. I was just trying to get what the defense was giving me. I tried to drive the ball, which I did in the second half, and make better reads in the second half than in the first half.”
Dion Waiters, Sophomore Guard
How important are these two rivalry games at home?
“They are huge. We know Connecticut, they are a good team. They are just going through some things right now.
How rare was it for you to miss those two free throws?
“I made them when it counted, but I had to make those free throws. I can’t allow that. I have to hit them.”
How did it look from your prospective on Kris Joseph’s three pointer in the overtime period?
“It was great. The atmosphere in there was great. This is a lot of fun. It was great to be a part of that moment.”
How important was Kris Joseph’s play tonight?
“He kept shooting. And people kept finding him.”
Kris Joseph, Senior Guard
How were you able to shoot so well tonight?
“I kept shooting. I felt like I was in rhythm. In the past couple of games, I haven’t been making them. My mechanics were good, but they just weren’t falling. My staff and teammates kept telling me to shoot the ball.”
How was your rebounding effort tonight?
“We need to get back. We rebounded well on Saturday. We were outrebounded tonight, and we can’t allow that to happen. Looking down the road, it won’t always turn out this way if we rebound like we did tonight.”
How did you find the ball on that last play?
“There were three options: Scoop (Jardine), Dion (Waiters) or myself. For some reason, they left me open. I was open and I just got it to fall. I was ready for it and it fell.”
How important was Fab Melo’s play tonight?
“I think Fab was great for us on both ends. Once again, he was intimidating on the defense end, forcing guys to take shots that they didn’t want to take.
