Syracuse Player Quotes
Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh
Saturday, November 23, 2013
Carrier Dome / Syracuse, N.Y.
Terrel Hunt, Sophomore, Quarterback
On making plays down the field:
“I didn’t get to see the flea flicker because I was hit. When it comes to that I was late on it. If I’d had thrown it earlier it would have been a touchdown. I’ll have to go back to the drawing board and get better.”
On this week’s preparation for the Boston College game:
“We’re still hungry. Right now, we’re a little bruised. We’ll go in next weekend and play with our hearts and leave it all on the field.”
Macky MacPherson, Senior, Center
On the upcoming week’s preparation for the Boston College game:
“I don’t think you’re going to see a team work harder than us. This week our backs are against the wall. We’re in the corner and it’s do-or-die time.”
On the adjustment the team made after (offensive tackle) Sean Hickey’s injury:
“There’s not much of an adjustment to make. Sean’s a great player. With a guy like Michael Lasker stepping in, we have faith in him. He plays well in practice. It’s tough because that’s a hard situation for him to go into with a close game like that. It's his first real action. That's unfortunate for him. He stepped up. He had a couple mistakes, but all-in-all I think he played a good game.”
Ri’Shard Anderson, Senior, Cornerback
On all the missed opportunities:
“It hurt, but we have to move on to the next game. We can’t dwell on this loss. We have to get ready for Boston College now.”
On having the chance to become bowl eligible two years in a row:
“It’s very important. Everyone knows that. It’s a big-time thing that can change the program and show everyone that we can be that dominant team.”
Lewellyn Coker, Senior, Linebacker
On the last few drives of the game:
“As far as the last few drives, it came down to something we didn’t want it to come down to. We wanted to execute and do as much as we did at the beginning of the game, but we just fell short as a team. We have to bounce back and think about next week.”
On the defense keeping them in the game:
“It’s all of us – defense, offense, special teams – we all do it together. The defense did a good job. We shot ourselves in the foot a few times, but we’ll have to bounce back and execute and do everything right next week.”
On his forced fumble:
“I just do everything the same every week. I do the same thing. I just go out there and have fun and play. A ball came my way, it was a good blessing, but we didn’t win so it doesn’t matter.”
On Ryan Norton’s missed field goal:
“We all make mistakes. He wasn’t able to execute and make it between the posts, but that shouldn’t have been what determined if we won or not.”
On what special teams can do going forward to be more consistent:
“For special teams, we can be more poised out there and execute better. We can do something to help the offense and the defense out so hopefully we go out there and execute, hit, and get the ball for the offense. “
On his mentality going into the BC game:
“I hope everyone’s mentality is just delete this one, minus it, expect a win, go out there and practice hard and don’t change. We can’t change because of a loss. We have to go out there and have fun during practice and make sure we execute and do everything right. We just need the win and don’t worry about anything else, just win.”
Cameron Lynch, Junior, Linebacker
On Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage’s ability to rebound after several hard hits:
“He persevered. We hit him a couple of times. They finished as an offense. We have to come back and execute.”
On missed opportunities by the offense:
“It’s not even that. We could have capitalized on some plays on defense also. It’s not all us and it’s not all them (the offense). We’re a team. We lost as a team. Next week, we need to come out and pull out a W.”
Durell Eskridge, Sophomore, Safety
On his catch in the end zone that was ruled incomplete:
“Yeah, I feel like I made that catch. I kind of bobbled it a little bit, but I felt like I brought it in at the end and kept my feet in. The officials made the call. We had to live with it and get ready for the next down.”
On his frustration about the referees calling the pass incomplete:
“You get very frustrated, but at the end of the day we have another chance to come out and beat Boston College. We have to come back tomorrow and prepare, watch film, and be ready to go on Saturday.”
Jay Bromley, Defensive Tackle, Senior
On how the team did defensively:
“We did a decent job. We only gave up 17 points, but to win you have to give up less points (than the other team) and we didn’t do that.”
