Philip Allen (Football)
Whenever Orange football faithful recall great wins, thoughts quickly turn to 1938 when SU stormed back in the final minutes from a 17-6 deficit to defeat Cornell, 19-17. Allen was the big hero, stealing a lateral and then catching deciding TD pass. Allen earned All American honorable mention and was picked on Andy Kerr's all-time, all-Colgate opponent team. Allen served in the Navy in World War II and received a commendation for D-Day action in the Normandy invasion. He is president of T.V. Guilfoil and Associates Inc. of Syracuse.
