Student-Athlete Quotes
Rachel Coffey, on senior day:
“It was nice to know that we were playing in front of a big crowd like that. There were a lot of people here so I thought it was really nice. I’m glad that everyone came out to watch us.”
Brittany Sykes, on learning from the seniors:
“One thing we have learned from the seniors is to be patient. They’ve been here two more years than we have, and when we came in as freshman we went to them and asked them questions about simple things or even during tough times in games they would give us advice. The most important thing I learned was definitely to be patient and take it one step at a time.”
Sykes on SU's defense:
“I think we were aggressive with the ball. We really focused on scouting, thanks to Coach Reed and the rest of the coaching staff, they gave us the information so we knew what their signals were on the floor so we could stop them from penetrating and getting their shots.”
Sykes on her blocks:
“It brought me back to high school when I used to block shots. To not get a foul called made me really happy. I just try to defend the basket for my team and get back to get another offensive possession. I do anything I have to do for my team, if it’s blocking shots I will do it.”
Brianna Butler on shooting from the outside:
“My teammates have set me up really well to knock down the open shots. Rachel (Coffey) will drive or Taylor (Ford) or Brittany (Sykes) and it just leaves me open so I just have to thank my teammates for setting me up.”
Brianna Butler on the difference between shooting in the first and second halves:
“In the first half I wasn’t shooting in rhythm, I guess you could say. In the second half I came out ready to knock down shots.”
