Syracuse Player Cornell Quotes
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Cornell
December 19, 2015
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Malachi Richardson, Freshman, Forward
How do you feel about the way you attacked today?
“I think I had a pretty good performance offensively, defensively, and rebounding the ball. I just wanted to take some shots and get to the free throw line a little bit.”
You had eight defensive rebounds today and that’s an area where the team struggles. Were you focused on getting them?
“I was focused on rebounding for sure. I came out early because of that and I made it a point to rebound.”
Michael Gbinije, Graduate Student, Guard
What’s your reaction on being double-teamed?
“I don’t want to get double-teamed, but at the same time, I have two on me and there’s definitely someone open, so you just have to find them.”
At what point did you recognize that they’re going to double-team you every single time?
“Two possessions in the game because they were yelling it. They were like 'double, double, double!' They got after it today.”
Tyler Roberson, Junior, Forward
Does it trouble you at all that you haven’t been as consistent as you think you could be?
“It doesn’t really bother me because I know I can be a consistent player. Like I said it’s a long season and I definitely know that I will become consistent eventually. But it’s been a little disappointing to me.”
Is it because sometimes you’re not as involved in the offense or not as involved in the play? Sometimes you don’t touch the ball for four, five or six seconds.
“That would help to touch the ball, but like today I was active on the glass and I got punched from that. I think that’s something I can do every game regardless of whether I get the ball or not, so I’m going to try to do that every game.”
Trevor Cooney, Graduate Student, Guard
Can you talk about the team’s defensive play?
“I’m just proud of how we played defensively today. That was good to see and we need to know that we’re a good defensive team and when we play good defensive, we get better shots and we’re a better team. We just need to continue to focus on that and get better.”
What are your thoughts on Tyler Roberson’s play?
“ When he’s active and doing what he’s doing tonight, we’re a way better team offensively and defensively. He was very active and aggressive and when he’s like that, I think he’s one of the best rebounders and forwards in the country.”
