Lynn 'Pappy' Waldorf, who lettered for the Orange from 1922 to 1924, earned second-team All-America honors as a tackle in each of his three seasons for the Orange. He entered the coaching ranks in 1926 at Oklahoma City. After serving as an assistant coach at Kansas in 1928, he became head coach at Oklahoma State. During his 30-year career, he also led the Oklahoma A&M (1929-33), Kansas State (1934), Northwestern (1935-46), and California (1947-56) programs. Waldorf led all five programs he served as head coach to at least one conference championship. He earned his first national collegiate coach of the year award in 1935.
