Student Athlete Resources
Syracuse University provides financial aid to student athletes in order to minimize the amount of money student athletes must borrow or pay out-of-pocket to attend the University. The Office of Athletic Compliance works with coaches, staff, and administrators to provide to student athletes who bring competitive excellence to the class room and the playing and practice field.Â
Â
Student Athletes are permitted to transfer as many times as they would like as long as they are academically eligible without having to sit out a season. Coaches may not contact a student athlete about transferring before providing a written notice to their current institution's compliance officer or coach alerting them of your desire to transfer. A student athlete can only declare their intention to transfer during their sport's allotted transfer window portal(s). Once a student athlete enters the transfer portal they are at risk of losing a future scholarship at their current institution. Â
Â
Student Athletes may be compensated for the use of their Name, Imagine, and Likeness (NIL). The payments/benefits of NIL deals may not be provided for a student athlete's athletic ability, athletic performance or achievements, or attendance at Syracuse. If a student athlete does receive compensation for any of the reasons listed they risk their ability to participate in collegiate athletics. International student athletes should talk to their compliance officer before participating in any NIL agreements so they don't have any immigration issues. All student athletes who have NIL deals should report their agreements, worth over $600, to the NILGO software to be reviewed by the Athletic Compliance Office.Â
Â
Student Athletes from around the world are encouraged to come to Syracuse and compete for the Orange. Syracuse University is proud to have one of the largest international student athlete populations in the country. International student athletes who, are enrolled or, want to attend Syracuse University should direct themselves to the International Student Athletes link for more guidance.Â
