Tim O'Toole is in his second stint on the Syracuse University athletics staff. He rejoined the program in January as the Interim Men's Basketball Coordinator of Team Sport Operations. In February he was named Director of Men's Basketball Operations.
O'Toole was an assistant coach on Jim Boeheim's staff from 1991-to-1995. He worked specifically with the Syracuse guards and helped with scouting and recruiting. The Orange made three NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure.
A 1987 graduate of Fairlfield University, O'Toole was the Fairfield Male Athlete of the Year in 1987 as a basketball and lacrosse performer. He was also the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1987. O'Toole played on two MAAC Championship teams and was a captain on back-to-back NCAA Tournament clubs.
While earning his masters degree in business at Fairfield, O'Toole was a graduate assistant for Coach Nick Macarchuk. In 1989-90 he was an assistant for Coach Les Wothke at Army and the following season he worked in the same capacity for Coach Gary Brokaw at Iona.
Following his first stay on the Syracuse staff, O'Toole was an assistant for two seasons with Coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke. He then spent one season on the coaching staff at Seton Hall before he was named head coach at Fairfield in 1998. O'Toole helped the Stags post three straight .500-plus seasons and an NIT berth.
In 2007, O'Toole began work as a college basketball analyst for ESPN and SNY-TV. He has also been a member of the St. John's radio broadcast team.
