Dave Weiss is the full-time assistant coach responsible for coaching the freshmen, as well as serving as the Orange’s recruiting coordinator.
Weiss came to Syracuse after coaching the freshmen boats at George Washington from 2005-07.
The 2008 freshman boat, finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record in the dual race season. The freshman eight finished sixth in the Grand Final at Eastern Sprints and 10th at the IRA Regatta.
A 2001 graduate of Georgetown University, Weiss was team captain and MVP of the Hoyas in 2000-01. As a member of the Hoyas’ varsity eight Weiss won gold medals at the 2001 ECAC Championships, and at the 1998 Champion International Regatta. Rowing in the men’s four, Weiss’ shell advanced to the second round of competition in the Visitor’s Cup at the 2003 Henley Royal Regatta in England.
