With two seasons under her belt, Caira was responsible for churning out Syracuse's first freshman all-conference first team selection since 2005 in Sydney O'Hara. Under Caira's guidance, O'Hara had one of the best rookie campaign's in Syracuse history. She was a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and NFCA National Player of the Weeka as well. O'Hara's 16 wins was second most by a SU freshman while her seven shuouts was not only the most by a first-year, but was also ranks third in a single season at Syracuse.
In 2012, Caira became the first pitcher in SU and BIG EAST conference history to record 1,000 career strike outs, finishing with 1,043. She also currently sits atop every pitching category in the Orange softball record book. She is the all-time leader in wins (97), appearances (167), games started (141), complete games (82), shutouts (28), innings pitched (887.0), strikeouts (1,043), strikeouts per seven innings (8.23), most saves (7), lowest ERA (1.87) and lowest opponent batting average (.190).
The 2012 team captain became the only student-athlete in the BIG EAST to be named to the Easton Fastpitch All-America List. She also earned NFCA Third Team All-American honors and was a First Team All-Great Lakes Region selection in 2012. She went 27-9 overall in 2012, recording two no-hitters, bringing her career total to four no-nos, holding four of the six in SU history. She was a member of several BIG EAST Weekly awards lists, earning spots on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times in two months, in addition to being awarded the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week and the National Pitcher of the Week in March, 2012.
She graduated from the School of Education at Syracuse University with a degree in physical education.
