Andrew Gomez joined the Sports Medicine Staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for volleyball.
Prior to joining the Orange, Gomez served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southern Illinois University Carbondale for cross country, track and field, and women's volleyball. He worked to create and implement a daily volleyball warm-up program, created weekly injury reports, and oversaw weightlifting sessions for medical coverage. His responsibilities also included working with the team physician to clear and evaluate student-athletes, and supervising Graduate and Intern Athletic Trainers.
In addition to his time at SIUC, Gomez's previous experience includes serving as the Co-Head Athletic Trainer at Fontbonne University and an athletic trainer internship at Austin Peay State University.
Gomez is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. He also has a BOC Certification and is First Aid and CPR/AED certified.
Gomez earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2015 from Saint Louis University, with a concentration in inter-professional practice. After graduating he stayed at SLU and earned his master's degree in athletic training.
