A three-time All-American, Sabrina Harbec served as an assistant coach for the women's ice hockey team at Syracuse during the 2010-11 season.
Harbec spent two seasons competing for the Montreal Stars of the National Women's Hockey league (NWHL) following her standout career at St. Lawrence, which concluded in 2008.
Along with assisting associate coach, Graham Thomas, with recruiting, Harbec worked as a day-to-day liaison with SU's student-athletes. Her responsibilities included on-ice instruction during practice and games, assisting with video analysis and strength and conditioning and coordinating team travel and community service projects.
Harbec brings a wealth of knowledge from her impressive background, which will be a positive asset to the program both on and off the ice. During her 2009-10 season with the Stars, Harbec led the league in total points. She is no stranger to setting standards as her 219 career points at St. Lawrence are a school record.
During her career at SLU, she was a three-time top 10 nominee for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, which recognizes the accomplishments of the most outstanding player in NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey each season. Following an incredible 2006 season, she was one of the top three nominees for the Patty Kazmaier Award and was named the ECAC Player of the Year.
Harbec led the Saints to three consecutive appearances to the Frozen Four in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and during those same seasons was voted team MVP by her teammates.
While at St. Lawrence, Harbec excelled both on the ice and in the classroom as she was named to the ECAC all-academic team in three consecutive seasons. She also represented St. Lawrence at the NCAA leadership Conference in 2007.
Harbec understands the importance of leadership, both by coaches and players. She feels that her leadership will help other leaders emerge that can continue the Orange's increasing success.
The St-Hubert, Quebec native competed for the Canadian National Women’s team for six years. As a part of the U-22 team, Harbec won three consecutive gold medals at the Air Canada Cup.
During the 2009-10 winter, Harbec made her television debut on Serie Montreal-Quebec, a reality show about ice hockey.
Harbec received her bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from St. Lawrence and is working towards a master's degree in mathematics from Syracuse. She resides in Syracuse.
