Olivia Coiro joined the Orange as an assistant director of athletics communications in January 2018 after serving the previous year in a similar role at East Carolina.Â
Coiro is responsible for communication efforts for Syracuse's nationally-ranked women's basketball and men's rowing programs. She is responsible for promoting the Orange through various print, web and social media efforts while organizing and facilitating all media request for assigned sports. Additionally, she serves as a secondary contact for volleyball and assists the athletic communications intern during the fall season. Coiro previously worked with the field hockey, softball and women's rowing teams during her time at 'Cuse.
At Syracuse, she has led the promotion efforts for numerous All-Americans, including Dyaisha Fair, who was drafted 16th overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft and finished her career as the third-most leading scorer in women's basketball history. She's covered multiple men's rowing national championship regattas and has been a part of four NCAA Tournament appearances with the women's basketball team.Â
While at ECU, Coiro was the primary media relations contact for the Pirates’ soccer, women’s basketball, tennis and lacrosse programs. During her year in Greenville, she assisted with gameday football press box operations and implemented an intern program within the media relations office.Â
Prior to ECU, Coiro was the primary publicist for the UNCG's women's basketball, softball, women's soccer, track and field and cross country programs, promoting student-athletes, coaches and staff through the athletic department's official website as well as its social media platforms. Coiro also successfully directed the promotion of CoSIDA Academic All-America selections Lucy Mason (women's basketball) and Nicole Thomas (softball).

Coiro began her full-time career as an assistant director of athletics communications at Lynn University where she worked directly with the men's and women's basketball teams as well as overseeing communications efforts for men's lacrosse, women's volleyball, softball, men's and women's tennis and women's cross country. She was also the postseason contact for the women's golf team during its run to back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships. Additionally, Coiro worked with the men's basketball when they reached Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division II tournament for the first time in a decade.

An active member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), Coiro served as the chair of the Young Professionals Committee from 2017-2021 and is an active member of the CSC Women (formerly WoSIDA) Steering Committee and the CSC Career Services Committee. She has presented at numerous national conventions on a variety of topics including building relationships with coaches, bridging the gap between traditional communications and new media, and has moderated a number of other panels.Â
Coiro earned a bachelor of science in sports management from Lasell College in 2012. A native of Long Island, New York, she currently resides in Syracuse.Â
