SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Over the coming weeks, Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley is announcing the program's 2014 signing class. Be sure to check Cuse.com as the Orange unveils its incoming class one-by-one.
"I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2018 to our Syracuse Field Hockey Family," Bradley said. "This class has decided to join a university which offers excellence both in the classroom and on the field. This is a powerful recruiting class that will offer speed to our line-up, skill and a high level of hockey knowledge. This class represents five states and two countries; they are diverse and ready to help us pursue an ACC and NCAA championship. I cannot wait to help them develop and leave a legacy for future Syracuse Field Hockey student-athletes. There are many firsts that this class can achieve as a unit. On behalf of the Syracuse Athletic Department and our extended community please welcome the class of 2018 to our Syracuse family."

In today's installment, Bradley announces the signing of Laura Hurff of Newark, Del. to a National Letter of Intent.
"My first time on campus, I felt like I was at home," Hurff said. "The field hockey team welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like I was already a part of the family."
Hurff signs with Syracuse after a stellar four-year career at Ursuline Academy under head coach Heidi Dell'Oso. She earned All State Honorable Mention in 2011 before taking home First-Team All-State honors as a junior and senior. From 2011-2013, she earned a spot on the All-Catholic Conference first team. Hurff was also recognized as the best Catholic Conference player in 2013. Most notably she was honored as the MVP for field hockey in 2012 and 2013.
Hurff was a member of the U.S. U17 team in 2012-13.
"Laura is a fast, aggressive and an outstanding competitor," Bradley said. "She has solid distribution skills and possesses outstanding individual defense. I expect Laura to contribute in both the midfield and forward lines in her inaugural year at 'Cuse."
The speedy midfielder/forward finished her career with the Raiders strong, tallying 16 goals and 10 assists in her senior season, giving her 31 goals and 27 assists for her high school career.
"Laura Hurff's field hockey career at Ursuline Academy will forever be remembered. She is one of the most skilled and powerful players I have ever seen," Dell'Oso said. "She has been a leader to our program and is always willing to help her teammates. Defensively and offensively she has led the Raider Varsity Team for four years. Her stick work, speed and knowledge of the game have made her a standout in the state of Delaware. Her passion for the game is contagious. I know her collegiate field hockey career will be record setting."
Hurff plays club hockey for X-Calibur, under head coach Tiffany Cappellano. Hurff is also a four-year member of the women's basketball and lacrosse teams at Ursuline Academy.

An all-round student-athlete, Hurff participates in several extracurricular activities including Project Unify, math league, public speaking and National Honor Society.
