The Orange safety signs a free agent deal with New York's AFC squad
Durell Eskridge is the next member of the Orange to join the NFL ranks, signing a free agent deal with the New York Jets on Saturday.
Â
The safety racked up 68 total tackles this past season, the second-highest on the team behind All-ACC linebacker Cameron Lynch. He finished his career 15th in program history in tackles by a defensive back in just three seasons.
Â
A starter in all 12 games, Eskridge earned ACC Defensive Back of the Week honors after his performance against Notre Dame, which included nine tackles, a fumble recovery and a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Â
He also earned All-ACC Third Team honors in 2013 after leading the Orange in tackles and interceptions as a sophomore.
The Miami, Florida native is the 17th member of the Orange to join the Jets, most recently Jerry Mackey and Joe Kowalewski were on the squad in 2008.
In addition to Eskridge, Sean Hickey signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints and Eric Crume inked a free agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, while Dyshawn Davis signed with the Washington Redskins and Cameron Lynch joined the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Tickets for the 2015 season are available online, by phone (888-DOMETIX), at Destiny USA kiosks and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). In addition, discounted group tickets (20+), with prices as low as $10 each, are available for all home games by calling the Ticket Sales office (443-3212).
