Freshman forward, Kirk Johnson (Chester Springs, PA) had a stellar performance, netting both Syracuse goals. Johnson leads the team in scoring with 21 points (nine goals, three assists). Johnson's nine goals on the season tie him with Anthony Ramoon for the third highest goals scored by a freshman in Syracuse history.
Colgate opened the scoring when Brendan Skonieczki scored seven-minutes and 10 seconds into the game. One-minute-14-seconds later, Johnson tied the game scoring off a Ryan Hall (Great Falls, VA) assist. The Red Raiders took a second-half lead when Tim Gerges scored off a Skonieczki assist. Nineteen seconds later Johnson struck for the second time, putting a header in the net off an assist from John Andrade (East Providence, RI). Michael Henes scored the overtime goal for the Red Raiders.
Syracuse is now 1-2-2 in overtime games this season. The Orangemen (8-6-2) will complete their BIG EAST regular season schedule on Sunday, October 29, at Pittsburgh. Kickoff the game is slated for 1 p.m.
