Men's Soccer Falls, 3-0, At Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ (Oct. 7) - The Syracuse men's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Oct. 7 with a 3-0 loss at Seton Hall. The Orangemen are now 5-4-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the BIG EAST. The Pirates are now 6-5 overall and 3-4 in league play.
It was the fourth time this season the Orangemen were shutout. The last time was a 0-0 tie at Georgetown on September 22.
Seton Hall took the lead in the 24th minute when Luke Serafin beat Syracuse goalkeeper Kevin Bacher (East Meadow, NY) in the upper left corner. Entering tonight's game, Bacher had given up only five goals in his last five games. Greg Strohmann and Vin Scerbo netted the Pirates' other two goals.
Bacher made three saves in the loss. His coutnerpart, Alex McDonald, stopped four shots, including a penalty kick by senior midfielder Mario Cristofori (Fairport, NY).
The Orangemen return home on Monday, October 9 for a key New York Region matchup with Adelphi. The Panthers began the week in a sixth-place tie in the latest NSCAA New York Region poll, while Syracuse occupies the ninth spot.
