
Brown Named SU Football's Most Valuable Player

Will Allen (Syracuse, NY) was honored with the Mark Hoffman Award for the most outstanding back, while Cliff Snell (Worcester, MA) won the Joe Szombathy Special Teams Award for outstanding performance on that unit.
Kyle Johnson (Woodbridge, NJ) won the Joe Alexander Award for excellence in football, scholarship and citizenship, while Morlon Greenwood (Freeport, NY) was recognized with the Pat Miller Award for an outstanding athlete, student and citizen. Pat Woodcock (Kanata, Ontario, Canada) was honored with the Duffy Daugherty Award, given to the "Player's Player, Coach's Player."
Duke Pettijohn (Mattapan, MA) and Rickie Simpkins (Middle Village, NY) shared the Ben Schwartzwalder Award given to an exemplary football player, while Eric Downing (Paterson, NJ) won the Tim Green Award for oustanding defensive line play.
A trio of Orangemen won the Ray Martino Award for loyalty, enthusiasm and perseverance, including Aaron Lewis (Bayview, TX), Vaughn Smith (Clinton, MD) and Emerson Kilgore (Warwick, RI).
In addition, seniors Andrew Benson (Providence, RI), Chris Bokel (Reston, VA), Peter Ferris (Sicklerville, NJ) and Charlie Messano (Little Silver, NJ) were recognized with SU blankets for their contributions to the program.
