
Orangemen Lose To ECU, 34-17

Junior running back James Mungro had his first regular-season 100-yard game, running for 106 yards on 10 carries. Mungro had a 162 yards in December's Music City Bowl. Senior running back Dee Brown posted 78 yards on 17 carries. Brown moved into a fifth-place tie on the career rushing touchdown list (21) and moved closer to the 2,000-yard plateau.
Sophomore placekicker Mike Shafers 23-yard field goal gave Syracuse a 3-3 tie in the first quarter. Mungro scored four seconds into the second quarter on a three-yard run, giving the Orange a 10-3 lead. The Pirates added 21 points to take a 24-10 lead, before Brown scored on a three-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Syracuses final points.
Sophomore quarterback Troy Nunes threw for 158 yards, completing 10 of 18 passes. Senior wide receiver Pat Woodcock caught a career-best five passes for 44 yards. Junior Malik Campbell had three catches for a team-high 57 yards. Mungro had the longest catch of his career for 51 yards.

Woodcock and senior Will Allen averaged 22.1 yards per kickoff return. Woodcock fielded four for 84 yards and Allen had two for 49 yards. Both returned kicks for a game-high 27 yards.
Allen led SU with nine tackles. Senior linebacker Morlon Greenwood had six, including two for a loss. Strong safety Keeon Walker posted six tackles. Junior defensive end Dwight Freeneys sack marked his fourth consecutive game with a sack, dating back to the Music City Bowl.
