SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse University women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Dartmouth at the Soccer Stadium in less than favorable weather conditions on Wednesday night.
A steady downpour throughout the game provided a slick playing surface and a strong wind often took control of the ball, leaving the game scoreless at the half.
The Big Green (4-3-1, 1-1-1 Ivy League) was able to score first when forward Devon Haskell booted a pass from Laura Ashley past SU goalkeeper Shannon Myers (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) at 67:34 for a 1-0 lead. Jamie Lang scored four minutes later for the final 2-0 score. Hannah Putnam and Mary McVeigh earned assists on the play.
Syracuse (8-5, 2-3 BIG EAST) was unable to mount a comeback, putting only two shots on goal in the second half. The Orangewomen were outshot 16-10 in the game and shutout for the third time this season. Big Green keeper Anne Marbarger earned her second shutout of the year. Myers made five saves for Syracuse.
The Orangewomen will play at Georgetown in its final road game of the year on Sunday at 1 p.m.
