
Scalzo Leads Comeback Against Hoyas

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Syracuse University women's soccer team used two goals from sophomore forward Nina Scalzo (Webster, N.Y./Webster) en route to a come-from-behind victory against Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at Harbin Field.
Georgetown (8-6-1, 1-3-1 BIG EAST MA Div.) got on the board first when Nicole DePalma put a shot past downed SU freshman keeper Shannon Myers (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) at 55:02 for the 1-0 lead.
The Orangewomen (9-5-0, 2-3-0 BIG EAST NE Div.) tied the game at 71:37 when Scalzo lifted a shot into the upper right-hand corner past Hoya keeper Shereena Chang. Freshman forward Natalie Galas (Sterling Heights, Mich./Bishop Foley) earned an assist on the play. Scalzo would net the gamewinner 2:40 later when she headed a free kick from senior co-captain Tracy Stalker (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) into the goal for the final 2-1 score.
Scalzo leads the team with nine goals and an assist for 19 points this season. Myers made four saves in net and earned her ninth victory of the season.
The Orangewomen will play host to Villanova on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Soccer Stadium. It will be the first of a three-game homestand that will close out the regular season. The game will be televised on Time-Warner Cable.
