
Orange Tennis Embarks on West Coast Swing

Senior Michelle Neveklovska's (West Vancouver, British Columbia) has 31 wins this season, which is first on the 2000-01 Orangewomen. When paired with classmate Zuzanna Borucka (Gdansk, Poland), the duo is SU's winningest doubles team, tallying 17 wins. Neveklovska is 14 wins away from tying for fourth place in Syracuse history. With 138 wins, Neveklovska trails third-place Stephanie Rice (1983-87) with 152. Carrie Bentzel (1988-93) is in third with 159, while Erica O'Neill (1992-95) is second with 161 victories. Current assistant coach Jana Strnadova-Bacova (1992-96) is the all-time leader with 202. Borucka has 121 wins in her career, which is 16th on SU's all-time list. She needs two wins to move into a 15th-place tie with Corinna Bode (1989-93), who has 123 victories. Borucka is 29-21 this season and third on the team in wins.
Sophomore Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia) posted her 30th win of the season against Minnesota, marking the second SU tennis player to reach the plateau this year. Kabanova is 30-14 this year and leads the team with 16 singles wins. Her .681 winning percentage is first on the squad.Freshman Zani Suttle (Roswell, GA) leads the freshman class with 25 wins this season. She has won 56.8 percent of her matches, including seven of 10 matches at the number-six singles level. Suttle is second on the team with 15 singles victories this season.
Cal-Santa Barbara is 2-9 this spring in dual-match competition. The Gauchos gained two consecutive wins last week against against UC-Riverside and Louisville, before losing to UNLV on Tuesday. Anne Marie Lenze is the top player on the squad with a 8-6 record. She will start at No. 2 singles, where she has a 6-3 record this year. Lenze teams with Gaby Andrade to form the team's top doubles pairing. They are 7-8 in doubles action, including a 4-5 mark at number two. Cal Poly-SLO is 7-3 this spring and winners of its last two matches. The Mustangs defeated Pacific, 5-2, and San Francisco State, 7-0, in competition last week.
