
Orangewomen Field Hockey Signs Five Players for 2001-02

Brittany Carriero (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville), Meredith Gettel (Rehrersburg,PA/ Tulpehacken), Lindsay Kocher (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood), Joanne Lombard (Ambler,PA/ Gwynedd Mercy) and Lindsay Peirson (North Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) have all committed to play for the Orangewomen.
Carriero, a team captain in high school, tallied 42 career goals and 45 assists. She was a two-time member of the Empire State Games' Long Island team. Her Ward Melville team won the Long Island Class 'A' championship and the Suffolk County Class 'A' championship. Her senior year, she was named a second-team All-American and a first-team All-State honoree.
Gettel was a two-time member of the Pennsylvania All-State team and the Berks County All-Berks team. As the Tulpehocken High School all-time leading scorer, Gettel will join the Orangewomen as a forward.
Kocher, a center midfielder, was a two-time member of the Garden State Games championship team. In her senior year, she was honored on the All-Conference and All-South Jersey First Teams and the All-State and Regional All-American Second Teams. While serving as captain of her squad, Collingswood High School won the New Jersey State Championship with a 22-1 record.
Lombard won a position on the 2000 Bicentennial League Senior All-Star team. She was a 1998 gold medalist and was also named MVP during the Keystone State Games.
Peirson led her Granby Memorial High School team to its first perfect season (19-0), while setting a new school record for the most goals scored in a season (31). Peirson was a two-time gold medal winner in the Nutmeg State Games and a two-time championship team member of the Cape Cod Classic. Last season, she was named a Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American and was selected to the All-State First Team.
The Orangewomen posted a 12-8 record during the 2000 season.
