
Orange Tennis Returns Home For Date with UAB

The Orangewomen (5-6) won their last outing at Cal Poly, 5-2, on March 17. The Orangewomen four of the six singles matches and two of three doubles contests en route to the victory. Last weekend, sophomore Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA) won all four of her matches in singles and doubles action. She is 29-16 this season, including a 16-6 mark in doubles. The Orangewomen are led by a trio of 30-match winners. Senior Michelle Neveklovska (West Vancouver, British Columbia) has 33 wins this season and ties with classmate Zuzanna Borucka (Gdansk, Poland) with 18 doubles wins. Borucka is third on the team with 31 wins. Sophomore Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia) is tied for first in singles wins this year with 16 and is second with 32 victories. Freshman Zani Suttle (Roswell, GA) also has 16 singles victories and is one win shy of reaching the 30-win plateau.
UAB is 14-0 this spring, including three wins against nationally-ranked teams. The Blazers are ranked 64th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. They are led by Mirela Vladulescu, the No. 26 singles player in the nation, who is 23-1 in singles action this year. She is 13-0 at No. 1 singles this spring. Vladulescu and Monika Schmid form UAB's top doubles team, which is ranked 29th in the latest ITA poll. The duo is 17-3 this year and 9-2 in dual matches.
