
Syracuse Football Names Stewart Defensive Backs Coach

Stewart, a graduate of Northern Arizona University where played cornerback in 1986 and 1987, has mentored defensive backs at the University of Missouri (1998-2000) and San Jose State University (1997) for the past four years. In 1996-97 Stewart served as a defensive graduate assistant coach at Missouri. Stewart has also served on the coaching staffs for Northern Arizona (1995-96), Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (1993-1995) and Locke (CA) High School.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Stewart has worked with the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins as part of the league’s minority fellowship program.
At Northern Arizona Stewart played cornerback, earning two football letters in 1986 and 1987, after making the team as a walk-on. After his collegiate career, Stewart participated in both the Dallas Cowboys’ and Atlanta Falcons’ 1988 training camps.
