
Orangewomen Lose In First Round of BIG EAST Tennis Championship

Syracuse lost the doubles point, winning the No. 2 doubles match. Saedinia and classmate Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia) defeated Michelle Martaus and Kristin Lanio, 8-5, for their 20th doubles win of the season.
Saedinia continued her hot streak into her No. 4 singles match with Martaus. Saedinia posted a straight-set victory, 6-2, 7-5. It was her fifth consecutive singles win of the spring. Neveklovska earned her 40th win of the season at the number one slot, defeating Kristen Stubbs 6-4, 7-6 (2). Virginia Tech swept three other singles matches for the win. In the team championship format, team's play a best-of-seven series with the first team to four points winning the match.
The Orangewomen qualify for the consolation bracket and will play again on at 3 p.m. Saturday. SU draws the loser of Friday's match between No. 3 seed Boston College and No. 6 seed West Virginia.
