Orange Wins Eight Events at the Leslie '57 & Judith Vielbig Invitational

SYRACUSE, NY - Sophomore Tim Adrian (Moorpark, CA) and junior Alison Culley (Foxborough, MA) each won two events to lead the Orangemen and Orangewomen track & field teams at the first-ever Leslie '57 and Judith Vielbig Invitational.

Adrian won both the shot put and the discus. His shot put effort of 54'11.25" broke his previous personal best by nearly two feet (53'0"). Adrian won his fourth discus competition of the season with a throw of 163'7". He also finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 149'6", qualifying him for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in that event. He is now eligible for the conference meet in all three events.

Culley was victorious in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. The junior clocked a 12.07 in the 100-meters before finishing first in the 200-meters with a season-best time of 24.31.

Senior Opal Jones (Capitol Heights, MD) won her second consecutive 100-meter hurdle competition, crossing the tape first in 14.16 seconds. Junior Stacyann Dwyer (Huntington Station, NY) also won a hurdle event, capturing the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.84.

The other Orangemen winners included sophomore Joel Carusone (Slingerland, NY) in the pole vault with a season-best 15'8.5" and sophomore Sean Burnett (Uniondale, NY) in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.47.

Junior Tara Trammell (Constantia, NY) also had a strong showing, finishing second in both the shot put and discus. Trammell's shot put mark of 40'11" was a personal best. Sophomore Sam Prescod (Bridgetown, Barbados) also recorded a personal-best in the men's javelin with a throw of 170'3".

Syracuse has a short week of rest before traveling to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Competition begins on Wednesday, April 25 and continues through Saturday, April 28.
