
SU Track & Field Hires Two Coaches

Hartshorn comes from Smith College in Northampton, MA where she was an assistant coach. Her duties included developing and implementing training programs for the cross country team as well as the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers. She also been an assistant coach at Colby College and the head track & field coach for the Lincoln-Sudbury Public Schools in Sudbury, MA.
Hartshorn received her bachelor's degree in government from Colby in 1995. As a member of both the cross country and track & field teams, she was a three-time Division III All-American. Hartshorn earned All-American honors during the indoor season in 1991 and 1992, and was also an outdoor All-American in 1992. In addition, she qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championship in 1994.
Hartshorn went on to earn a master's degree in exercise and sport studies from Smith in May of this year. She will complete her USA Track & Field Level II certification in July and also holds a Level I certification in coaching theory from the Canadian National Coaching Certification Program.
Bradd was most recently the men's and women's throws coach at Murray State University in Murray, KY. His duties involved instruction, recruiting, coordinating travel and academic supervision. In his one year at Murray State, Bradd coached three all-conference performers. Prior to that, he was a volunteer assistant at Indiana University.
Bradd received his bachelor's degree in sports exercise and science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999. He captained the Tar Heels track & field team and was a two-time All-American in the shot put. He also won seven Atlantic Coast Conference championships and set the ACC meet record in the hammer throw.
Bradd also competed professionally for the Mizuno Klub Kiehas. He finished 12th at the 1999 USA Outdoor Nationals and fourth at the 1999 USA/Canada Challenge in the shot put.
The Orange track & field team boasted two individual BIG EAST champions in 2001. Sophomore Tim Adrian won the discus, while junior Alison Culley became the first Orangewoman to win the 100-meter dash. Culley also went on to win the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the ECAC Outdoor Championship.
