
Stivala and Johnson Win the Varsity Pair Third Level Finals at IRA Championship

CAMDEN, NJ -- Sophomores Andy Johnson (Oak Ridge, TN) and Adam Stivala (Colts Neck, NJ) won the third level final of the varsity pair without coxswain for Syracuse on Saturday at the IRA Championship on the Cooper River. The duo won the race in a time of 7:33.29, beating out the second-place pair from Michigan who finished in 7:35.92.
Also on Saturday, SU’s varsity eight finished second in the third level finals. The Orangemen, led by captains Josh Stratton (Hyde Park, NY) and Matt Heumann (Burnt Hills, NY), clocked a time of 5:55.91, while Temple won the race in a time of 5:49.47.
Syracuse had three boats compete in the petite finals on Saturday. The JV eight was fifth (5:59.82), the freshman four with coxswain finished fifth (7:03.11) and the varsity four without coxswain placed sixth (7:11.00). Complete results from the petite finals that SU competed in are listed below.
