
Nine Different Individuals Win Events Versus West Virginia

Sophomore Elyse McDonough (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) was one of nine individuals on the Syracuse swimming and diving team to win events against West Virginia in the final home meet of the season for the Orange. McDonough captured first place in the 200 individual medley (2:08.34), the 200 butterfly (2:05.94) and as part of the 400 medley relay unit (3:56.82). She helped the Orangewomen to a 127-107 victory against the Mountaineers. The Orangemen lost a 132-93 decision at Ted Webster Pool.
Freshman Lindsey Clark (Dover, N.H./Dover) won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 10:30.25. Classmate Ashley Danowski (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) was first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:07.92.
On the men's side, freshman Josh Scott (Clayton, Calif./Clayton Valley) was a winner in the 500 freestyle (4:44.22). Sophomore Spencer Raymond (Idstein, Germany/Singapore American School) finished first in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.28). Senior Djordje Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) was the victor in the men's 200 individual medley (1:54.52).
Sophomore Ricky Rodriguez (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) was the top male diver on the one-meter board (275.25). He finished second in the three-meter event with a score of 253.65.
The Orange men and women take to the road for their next two dual meets. They will be at Connecticut on Saturday, Jan. 26, at noon. On February 2, they will compete at Seton Hall before the BIG EAST Championships on February 21-23.
