Pasch-ion Play: The Louie and Bouie Story

Bouie was Jim Boeheim's first ever recruit, and Louis Orr was right behind him. Both had remarkable collegiate careers, and excelled in professional basketball, as well, one in the NBA and the other overseas. After their playing days, Bouie became a businessman in his quaint hometown of Kendall, NY. Orr got into coaching, and spent only a few years in his hometown of Cincinnati, before moving back East. Bouie, a country guy, wouldn't mind living in Kendall for the rest of his life. Orr likes the big city. Amazingly, the two have stayed the best of friends since their days at Manley Field House, despite their different interests and living locations. When Bouie called Orr this summer to ask when his first practice at Seton Hall was, Louis said "today." So, Bouie hopped in his car, and drove to Jersey to take in the four and one half-hour session.
Roosevelt looked like a proud brother Tuesday watching Orr work the sideline, and as I talked to Louis, I sensed he was equally proud of Bouie's accomplishments. When I jokingly told Louis that Roosevelt might take some shots at him during the broadcast, Orr responded seriously, "If I deserve it, I wouldn't expect anything else from Rose." Now that's friendship!
