Women's Soccer Loses To Dartmouth, 1-0
10/10/2002 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
Dartmouth midfielder Laura Ashley scored the only goal of the game at 71:33. Ashley received the ball just outside the 18-yard box and drove right with a Syracuse defender on her hip. The senior midfielder was able to get a shot off, beating SU sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Myers (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield HS) high to the far left post, for her third goal of the season.
SU back Erica Mastrogiacomo (Weymouth, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) prevented another Dartmouth score moments later, stopping a shot from Christina Ferraris from crossing the goal line.
The Big Green outshot the Orangewomen 14-2 in the game, including a 6-0 advantage in the second half.
Myers tied a season high with seven saves. Julia Shields and Anne Marbarger both played 45 minutes in net for Dartmouth, with Marbarger earning the victory.
Syracuse will play host to 11th-ranked West Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Soccer Stadium.
