
Women's Soccer Loses On Last-Second Goal At No. 24 Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Syracuse University women's soccer team lost, 1-0, to 24th-ranked Boston College at the Newton Campus Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon. BC's Laina Ceddia tallied the game-winner in the last minute of regulation.
Ceddia gathered the rebound off a shot by Lindsey Fairweather and beat SU sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Myers (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield HS) for the winning score at 89:40.
Myers made six saves for the Orangewomen, who were outshot 18-6 in the game. Eagle keeper Kate Taylor made three saves for her fifth shutout of the season.
Syracuse (2-7-2 overall, 0-4-1 BIG EAST) was eliminated from BIG EAST playoff competition with the loss. Boston College improved to 7-5-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the BIG EAST.
SU returns to the Syracuse Soccer Stadium for games against Dartmouth on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m., and no. 9 West Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
