Syracuse seniors Guido Cristofori (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Ryan Hall (Great Falls, Va./Herndon) were both selected in professional soccer drafts this week. Both players were taken by the Cleveland Force of the Major Indoor Soccer League on Tuesday, December 17. Cristofori was also chosen by the A-League's new Syracuse franchise on Wednesday, December 18.
Cristofori was a second-round selection in both drafts. A third-team All-BIG EAST selection, Cristofori finished his career with his best season at Syracuse. He was second on the team with 15 points. Cristofori scored four goals and paced the Orangemen with seven assists. He scored or assisted on six of SU's eight game-winning goals. He was a third-team All-New York Region performer last season.
Hall was chosen by the Force in the third round of Tuesday's draft. He was the 26th overall selection. He started 17 games for the Orangemen last season. He played both in the midfield and defense. Hall scored one goal and had two assists on the season. Both of his assists came in the Orangemen's 3-2 win against Georgetown. Hall scored the first goal in the 3-1 win versus Hartwick.
The Orangemen finished the 2002 season 8-8-2 overall and 3-6-1 in the BIG EAST.
