
SU's Pace Defeats West Virginia, 76-64

SYRACUSE, NY - Freshman guard Josh Pace came off the bench to tie a carer high with 12 points, including 10 in the second half, to help Syracuse defeat West Virginia, 76-64, on Monday night in the Carrier Dome.
The Orangemen improved their record to 18-6 and 7-3 in the BIG EAST, while the Mountaineers stand at 8-13 and 1-8 in the conference.
West Virginia came back from a 17-point halftime deficit to tie the game at 58-58 with 6:32 left in the game. SU scored eight of the next 11 points, including four by Pace, to take a 66-61 lead. The Mountaineers would score only three more points in the game as SU went on to seal the win.
After SU took an 11-10 lead five minutes into the first half, the Orangemen exploded on a 13-1 run to take a 24-11 advantage. Syracuse led by as much 19 points in the first half, 36-17, before entering intermission ahead, 38-21.
Preston Shumpert led four Orangemen in double figures with 20 points. Kueth Duany added 17, and DeShaun Williams chipped in 13 tallies. West Virginia head coach Gale Catlett made a surprise return to his team after taking a two-game medical leave. Syracuse returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 10 at noon against Pittsburgh in the Carrier Dome.
