
Syracuse Advances To NIT Semifinals with 62-46 Win Against Richmond

RICHMOND, VA - Double-doubles by freshman Hakim Warrick and senior Preston Shumpert led SU to a 62-46 victory against Richmond in the National Invitational Tournament in The Robbins Center on Wednesday night.
Syracuse (23-11) plays the winner of tomorrow night's Ball State-South Carolina game in the semifinals of the NIT on Tuesday, March 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Warrick led all scorers with 15 points and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds. Shumpert recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds, 10 of which were in the first half.
The Orangemen held the advantage the entire game and shot 45 percent (26-of-57) from the field, compared to the Spider's 16-of-64 shooting.
The Spiders came within two in the first half, 24-22, after a three-pointer by Reggie Brown, but Syracuse scored the next eight points to enter intermission ahead, 32-22.
The Orangemen held a five-point lead with 6:35 to go, 47-42, before finishing the game on a 15-4 run to seal the win.
Brown led Richmond (22-14) with 14 points, and Mike Skrocki followed with 12.
Shumpert moved into sole possession of eighth place (1,853) on SU's career points list. He had been tied with Erich Santifer (1,845).
