The stroke for the varsity eight is senior Andy Berster (Sarasota, FL/Riverview HS). Senior Jason Bourcier (Greenland, NH/Portsmouth HS) operates in the bow seat while senior Eric Miller (Syracuse, NY/Henniger) is the coxswain. The Orangemen finished second in the other three races. The junior varsity eight race was the closest of them. Rutgers won with a time of 6:13.5, while Syracuse clocked a time of 6:15. 1.
Named after Ned Hanlon Ten Eyck, son of former Syracuse coach James A. Ten Eyck, the cup is awarded annually to the winner of the Syracuse-Rutgers varsity eight race. Since the first race in 1987, the Orangemen have captured the trophy 11 times.
The crew team returns to the water on Saturday, April 20 in Ithaca, N.Y. when they face Cornell and Navy for the Goes Cup.
