SU Crew Finishes Third In Race For Goes Cup

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Syracuse University men's crew team had one second-place finish and three third-place finishes as the team raced Cornell and Navy on the Cayuga Lake inlet in Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday, April 20.
In the varsity eight race No. 11 Cornell won its second consecutive Goes Cup, crossing the finish line in 5:47.6. No. 20 Navy placed second in 5:51.4. and No. 14 Syracuse came in third in 5:53.0. Since 1955, the Goes Cup has been awarded to the winner of the annual race between SU, Navy, and Cornell.
The Orangemen's lone second-place showing came in the third varsity race. Cornell won the race, finishing 10.2 second ahead of the Orange's 6:16.8 time.
Cornell won the junior varsity eight race, while Navy won the freshman eight race. Syracuse placed third in both races.
On April 28, SU races in the Georgetown Invitational on the Potomac in Washington, D.C.
