
Orangemen Travel to Colgate for Key Region Game

The Syracuse men's soccer team will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. this evening to take on New York Region rival Colgate at Van Doren Field at 7 p.m. SU (1-2) enters the game ranked eighth in the NSCAA New York Region poll, while the Raiders (1-0-1) are ranked sixth in the poll.
The Orangemen scored their first victory of the season on Saturday, defeating Georgetown, 3-2, in overtime. Sophomore Jarett Park (Tully, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) scored two goals in the final six minutes to force overtime. He also assisted on the game-winning goal in the extra period. Park was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for his effort.
Senior Ryan Hall (Great Falls, Va./Herndon) tallied a career-high two assists in the game, and junior Kirk Johnson (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown) tallied his first points of the season with an assist.
Park and senior Guido Cristofori (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) lead the Orangemen with two goals each. Cristofori netted the game-winning goal versus the Hoyas. Hall, Johnson and sophomore Ryan Hickey (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) all have assists for SU this season.
Colgate is coming off a 1-0 overtime upset of 12th-ranked St. Bonaventure. Zach Stuppy leads the team with three points on a goal and an assist. Jonathan Cook and Reed Grimes have also scored for the Raiders. Colgate opened the season with a 2-2 tie at VMI.
The Raiders lead the all-time series, 27-21-8, but the teams have split the last 10 meetings, 4-4-2. Syracuse won last year's game, 3-2, in overtime at the SU Soccer Stadium.
The Orangemen return home on Saturday, September 14 for another regional game versus Adelphi. Kickoff versus the Panthers is set for 12 p.m.
