
Orangewomen Claim Fifth Straight With 3-0 Win Against Colgate

Syracuse, NY- Senior co-captain Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville) and sophomore Ashley Kimes (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley North) each recorded eight kills to lead the volleyball team to a 3-0 win on Saturday afternoon against Colgate in the Syracuse Invitational Tournament at Manley Field House.
The Orangewomen (8-1) outhit Colgate (1-7) by a percentage of .326 to .075.
Van Mater, with a hitting percentage of .727, tallied eight kills out of 11 attempts and committed no errors in the three games. Van Mater also added four block assists. Kimes posted eight kills on 18 attempts with three errors for a hitting percentage of .278. Junior libero Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) had a match-high eight digs.
Melissa Rawson led the Raiders with eight kills and four block assists.
In the earlier match, Buffalo (4-5) defeated Brown (0-2) 3-1. Buffalo’s Lindsay Matikosh recorded a double-double with 25 kills and 17 digs.
The Orangewomen’s next match will begin at 7:00 p.m. against the Buffalo Bulls.
