
Crooks Ties Career High In SU Win Against Marist

SYRACUSE, NY - Sophomore Rachel Crooks (Green Springs, OH/Clyde) tied a career high with 14 kills to lead the Syracuse women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 victory against Marist on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Manley Field House.
The Orangewomen lost the first game, 33-31, but came back to take the nex three: 30-22, 30-22 and 30-20. Crooks recorded 14 kills on 29 attempts with three errors for a .379 attack percentage. Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) finished the match with double figures for the second consecutive day with 13 kills. Sophomore Ashley Kimes (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley North) had 10 kills on 23 attempts with three errors for a .304 attack percentage.
Freshman Kathryn Dercher (Weatherby Lake, MO/Park Hill) quarterbacked the offense with 55 assists and also chipped in five kills and six digs. Junior co-captain Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) led the defense with 16 digs, while Kelly Duan (Baotou City, China/Zhong Shan University) and Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) each recorded 10 digs.
Aline dos Santos led Marist with 17 kills, and Christina Brozek followed with 13 kills on 24 attempts with three errrors for a .375 attack percentage.
