All Four SU Doubles Teams Advance At Maryland Invitational

Seniors Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia/School #528) and Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, Calif./Calabasas) defeated Melissa Day and Raynie Theis of West Virginia, 8-6, to advance to the second round of the Flight A competition. Sophomores Kristine Bech Holte (Oslo, Norway/Fagerborg vgs.) and Trine Lise Juliussen (Rade, Norway/Treider vgs.) also advance in the Flight A bracket after defeating Lindsay Cox and Courtney Klein of Richmond 8-4.
In the Flight B bracket, junior Alexa Konstand (Akron, Ohio/Revere) and senior Tricia Sargent (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) defeated Jennifer Sunshine and Lea Gillies of George Washington while junior Daniela Kaluskova (Prague, Czech Republic/Gym Budejovicka) and freshman Wei-Ming Leong (Ipoh, Malaysia/SMJK Ave Maria Convent) received a bye.
In singles play, Kaluskova, Holte and Sargent each won their first-round matches. Kaluskova defeated Catherine Koontz of West Virginia, 7-5, 6-7 (7), 6-2, before falling to Emily Marker of Maryland, 6-1, 6-1, in the quarterfinals. Holte defeated Melissa Rausch of American, 6-0, 6-2, before being eliminated by Andreaa Fusea of Maryland in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-3. Sargent defeated Jennifer Sunshine of George Washington, 6-1, 6-1, and she moves on to the semifinals to be played Saturday.
