
Two SU Student-Athletes Earn BIG EAST/Aeropostale Scholar Athlete Awards

Watkins is a seven-time member of the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. She is a 2002 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar and a two-time team captain. Last May she graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting and is currently working toward her master's in information management.
In addition to her academic achievements, Watkins holds the school record in the triple jump (42-4.75) and competed at the 2002 USA Track & Field Championship in that event. She will compete this weekend at the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Carrier Dome in the triple jump and the long jump.
Chapman is also a seven-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. A political science and Spanish language, literature and culture dual-major, Chapman is also a two-time Verizon third team Academic All-American and has been picked for the Verizon Academic All-District I teams three times, including two first-team selections.
In the 2002 season, Chapman started and played in seven games at defense for SU before a season-ending injury. He scored his first career point with an assist versus Loyola. Chapman started 57 of the 61 games he played in and helped the SU defense to two shutouts this season and 14 during his career.
