Hernandez won the women's hammer throw with a NCAA regional qualifying mark of 185-11. She also qualified for the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships in the discus with a throw of 149-8. Adrian won the men's discus with a throw of 175-3 and qualified for the NCAA Regional meet. Senior Tim Biever also qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in the discus, throwing 148-10 for third place.
Culley ran a school-record time of 11.54 in the 100 meters, finishing fourth. The time was a NCAA regional qualifying mark and surpassed her previous school record of 11.66, set in 2001. She also qualified for the NCAA regional meet, finishing third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.72.
Also qualifying for the NCAA regional meet on the women’s side was graduate student Opal Jones, who took second in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.72. Jones also ran 24.82 in the 200 to qualify for the BIG EAST Championship.
Several others qualified for BIG EAST competition, including: Chris Telesford (men's 400H, 55.46), Matt Troha (men's high jump, 6-7), Joshua Johnson (men's long jump, 22-2.25), Sam Prescod (men's javelin, 174-9), Joel Carusone (men's pole vault, 15-3), Valerie Boling (women's 100m, 12.21; 200m, 24.94), LaNae Walker (women's 400H, 1:01.95), Tatiana Warren (women's long jump, 17-11.75), Jessyca Jackson (women's pole vault, 10-6.25) and Sarah Bentley (women's pole vault, 10-6.25).
The women's 400-meter relay squad also qualified for the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships with a time of 46.25.
Syracuse will next compete at the Tom Tellez Invitational in Houston, Texas on Saturday, March 29.
