3/30/2003 1:43:57 PM | Men's Rowing
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Syracuse men’s crew was swept by Brown on Sunday. The varsity eight, which made up ground over the last 500 meters, lost by less than six seconds, 5:49.6 to 5:55.0. The JV and freshman eights both lost by at least 16 seconds.
“Our varsity fought hard,” head coach Dave Reischman said. “They made a last-ditch effort, but Brown didn’t have much reason to take the stroke up.”
SU’s JV eight finished the 2,000 meter race in 6:06.0 to Brown’s 5:49.6. The freshman crew completed the race in 6:18.0, 24 seconds behind the Bears’ boat, which came in at 5:54.3.
The Orangemen take a week off from racing before hosting Rutgers for the Ten Eyck Cup on April 12 on Onondaga Lake. Syracuse has won the trophy the last six years.
