Adrian And Culley Lead Track & Field At Duke

Adrian won the shot put with a season-best throw of 53-11, while placing third in the discus with a mark of 166-11. Culley topped the field in the 200-meter dash in 23.66 and was second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.56.
Graduate student Opal Jones was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.93. Junior LaNae Walker qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.98.
Also posting regional marks were senior Zelma Jackson, who ran a career-best 10:49.47 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and sophomore Jenna Grimaldi, who cleared a season-best 5-8.50 in the high jump.
Freshman Kristen Michalski threw a season-best 174-1 in the hammer throw for third place. Sophomore Tatiana Warren triple-jumped 38-4.25 to qualify for the BIG EAST Championship and a fifth-place finish.
On the men’s side, freshman Brien Flewelling and senior Matt Troha both cleared 6-5.50 and tied for sixth place in the high jump. Junior Joshua Johnson qualified for the IC4A Championship in the triple jump with a mark of 48-2.50. The 3,200-meter relay squad of Brian McNeil, Valerij Petrulevich, Sean Miller and Chris Telesford qualified for the BIG EAST and IC4A meets and finished fifth in 7:38.99.
Syracuse will next compete at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, April 12.
