Men’s Varsity Eight Earns Berth In Fourth Level Final At IRA Regatta
5/30/2003 2:56:42 PM | Men's Rowing
The battle for third place - and the final spot in the Third Final - came down to a photo finish as Princeton, Syracuse and Marist all crossed the line within three-tenths of a second of each other. The Tigers finished in 5:51.58, SU’s time was 5:51.77, and Marist finished in 5:51.83. The Orangemen join Marist and sixth-place Georgetown in the Fourth Level Final on Saturday.
Syracuse’s JV eight was knocked out of final contention with a fourth-place finish in its semifinal. SU’s time was 6:02.30, its best of the regatta, but not enough to catch Minnesota for a berth in the Third Level Final.
The SU freshman eight also failed to make a final as the Orange were edged by Northeastern in the semifinal. The Huskies beat Syracuse by seven-tenths of a second for third place and a spot in the Third Level Final. SU’s time was 6:08.29.
The varsity eight finals begin at 1:21 p.m., on Saturday.
