PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference has announced that Syracuse will be the host school for the 2004 BIG EAST Softball Championship. The games will be played Thursday, May 13 through Saturday, May 15 at the Syracuse Softball Stadium.
The 2004 softball championship is the first hosted by the Orangewomen, a member of the BIG EAST since 2001. It will be the first BIG EAST softball championship played on a campus since the 2001 championship was hosted by Villanova. The 2002 and 2003 conference tournaments were held at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.
Syracuse qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in 2002, just the program's second season of competition in the league. The Orangewomen begin the 2004 campaign on February 13 at the Arizona State Fiesta Bowl Tournament.
